The SkyHose 8 is the high-pressure supply line between the ground system and the drone-mounted lance. It is built on a 5/16 in aramid-reinforced hose rated at 200 bar (2,900 psi) with a 4:1 safety factor. Aramid reaches this pressure class at 92 g/m (6.2 lb / 100 ft), where a textile-braided equivalent is heavier — and the aircraft lifts both the hose and the water inside it. Both ends carry a crimped union and a stainless steel quick-connect: male in, female out.

The drone does not do the work. The drone carries the nozzle to height. The ground system does the work.

Key benefits

  • Aramid, not textile. A single aramid braid carries 200 bar (2,900 psi) at 92 g/m (6.2 lb / 100 ft) — strength-to-weight that stays airborne for the full working height.
  • Payload you can calculate. Hose and water are published separately: 142 g per metre suspended, water included. The lifted mass is a number, not an estimate.
  • Rated end to end. The couplings are rated 300 bar (4,350 psi), above the hose itself, so the assembly is limited by the hose at 200 bar (2,900 psi) rather than by a fitting.
  • Stainless steel wet path. Couplings and unions are stainless throughout, so the line introduces no metals into water fed from a reverse-osmosis stage.

How it works

The hose sits between the ground system outlet and the drone-mounted lance. Polarity is fixed across the WasherDrone range and follows the same logic as a power socket: water enters through a male fitting and leaves through a female one, so a line cannot be connected the wrong way round.

  1. Connect at the ground: The male inlet mates with the female outlet on the ground system — SkyJet, SkyControl, or your own pump unit.
  2. Run and lift: Pay the hose out from the reel as the aircraft climbs. Every extra metre aloft is lifted mass.
  3. Connect at the lance: The female outlet receives the male inlet of the lance. Seat both couplings before pressurising.

Before you deploy

The hose sets the assembly pressure. The quick-connects are rated 300 bar (4,350 psi) and the hose 200 bar (2,900 psi), so the hose is the limiting component and the assembly rating is 200 bar (2,900 psi). Operate within that figure.

Respect the bend radius. Minimum bend radius is 115 mm (4.6 in), so reel drums must be at least 230 mm (9.1 in) in diameter. Tighter coiling permanently damages the reinforcement.

Lifted mass grows with height. Match the deployed length to the working height. The ground system and the lance are separate products and are not included; the lance adds its own mass in the air.

Before and after each run. Seat and lock both quick-connects before the pump is started, and depressurise before disconnecting. Rinse, drain, and store coiled at or above the minimum bend radius, out of direct sunlight. Inspect the cover for abrasion at every deployment.
